29 GREEN CAPSICUM CHUTNEY - II

Green Capsicum/Bell Pepper Chutney - Type 2

As dosa/idli is a common dish prepared, I try to make chutneys to dip with it using many variety of veggies and without the use of coconut and this is one among such. Tasted great with dosa and my friends too just loved this. You cannot feel the taste of capsicum even a little bit.

Onion - 1 medium
Capsicum - 1 Big
Garlic - 3
Ginger - 1/2 inch
Green chillies - 3 or 4
Tamarind - a small piece
Urad dhal - 1 1/2 tbsp
Salt as needed
Oil - 1 tbsp

For tempering:-
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves - all few

Cut onion and capsicum into thick chunks.

Heat few drops of oil and add urad dhal. Fry till nice brown and keep it aside. Add the remaining oil and first add onions. Saute till light brown and add in garlic, ginger, green chillies and tamarind. Fry together for 2 minutes and next add capsicum. Fry in medium flame for another 4 - 5 minutes. Remove and cool. Grind this along with urad dhal to a fine paste. Add salt and the tempering. Serve with idli/dosas.

As variation can skip the use of urad dhal.
